Calendar Project
GD4/ Spring 2022
Objective
Research two designers, study their style and create an original calendar design. Pick a month and use design techniques to craft a visually appealing calendar layout that reflects the two designers’ works. With the research you have done on these two designers, write an essay and create a type-based design for the back of the calendar.
Notes
For this project, I researched the designers Jon Contino and Mike Perry. Jon Contino is known for his “old school” typographic designs, while Mike Perry is known for his colorful and cartoon-like illustrations. My initial idea was to take the illustrative styles of Mike Perry and the typographic designs of Jon Contino to craft my calendar. In the end, I used illustrative and typographic designs from both designers. Overall, this project was an interesting and engaging design challenge.
